On screen, money must communicate value in a fraction of a second, and nothing does that like a $100 note. A stack of hundreds is instantly understood as ten thousand dollars; a stack of twenties requires math the audience never does. That is why the green Australian hundred outsells every other denomination we print combined.

Screen value arithmetic

One stack of 100 notes in $100 style represents $10,000. Ten stacks — our $100K bundle — fills a briefcase or a table spread convincingly. A duffel bag reads right at around fifty stacks. Directors routinely over-order twenties for realism and under-order hundreds for impact; experienced art departments do the reverse.

When smaller notes win

Hundreds look wrong in everyday contexts. A wallet, a till float, a market stall or a tip jar needs $20s and $50s to feel authentic — Australian audiences know the yellow fifty is the workhorse of real wallets. For register scenes, mix denominations with the twenties on top.
